Back-to-School Highlights

07 Sep 2020

Last Sunday, August 30, we had our annual back-to-school worship service and ice cream social. It was a great event, as we worshiped the Lord together through song, prayer, and the preaching of His Word. Then, we enjoyed delicious ice cream sundaes and desserts.

Here are some picture highlights from the event…

Mission: Dignity

Yesterday was Mission: Dignity Sunday, when churches and believers across the nation joined together for an annual one-day giving event to support retired Southern Baptist pastors, workers and their widows in critical financial need through the ministry of Mission: Dignity.

If you were unable to give a gift to this ministry yesterday, would you prayerfully consider doing so online (select the fund “Mission: Dignity” from the drop-down menu) or in person next Sunday?

You can learn more about this great ministry by watching the video below.

Sermon Series through Hebrews

17 Aug 2020
0

On Sunday morning during our worship celebration at 10:40, Lord willing, Pastor Nick will begin a new sermon series – Hebrews: The Journey of Faith. Hebrews has a strong emphasis on the superiority of Jesus Christ throughout the letter, so Nick hopes this series will encourage and challenge you to trust in Jesus for salvation, purpose, meaning, and hope. Jesus is better than all other options, and He is the only One who can make us right with God.

Here is the schedule of messages until the Advent season begins:

August 23 – Hebrews 1:1-14 (“Jesus Is Better than Angels”)

August 30 – Hebrews 2:1-18 (“Jesus Is the Better Brother”)

September 6 – Hebrews 3:1-19 (“Jesus Is the Better Moses”)

September 13 – Hebrews 4:1-13 (“Jesus Offers Better Rest”)

September 20 – Hebrews 4:14-5:10 (“Jesus Offers Better Forgiveness”)

September 27 – Special Message from Preston Thompson

October 4 – Hebrews 5:11-6:12 (“Jesus Is the Better Promise”)

October 11 – Hebrews 6:13-20 (“Jesus Is the Better Way”)

October 18 – Hebrews 7:1-28 (“Jesus Is the Better High Priest”)

October 25 – Hebrews 8:1-13 (“Jesus Provides a Better Covenant”)

November 1 – Special Message from Carson Humphreys

November 8 – Hebrews 9:1-28 (“Jesus Is the Better Substitute”)

November 15 – Hebrews 10:1-18 (“Jesus is the Better Offering”)

November 22 – Hebrews 10:19-39 (“Jesus Gives a Better Life (Now & Eternally)”)

Sunday, November 29 is the first Sunday of Advent, so Nick will do a short Christmas series that will take us through December. He will then resume our series through Hebrews in January 2021.

As always, we hope you will not only join us for our Sunday morning worship celebration at 10:40, but also for Family Groups at 9:30 a.m. and our prayer and praise service at 6 p.m. Richland Youth (grades 6-12) are also meeting on Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and Wednesday evenings.

Questions? Please let us know.

Staying Connected

10 Aug 2020

Please be sure to stay connected and engaged with our church family via the free MyRichland App and via our YouTube channel.

The MyRichland App is a great way to stay connected, as you can send prayer requests, fill out a connection card, watch videos, listen to sermons, give of your tithes and offerings, and much more.

Also, since the current pandemic began, we have been uploading regular video devotions, testimonies, and updates to our YouTube channel a few times each week. Here is the playlist of all our videos added since March…

As always, if you have any questions, concerns, and/or prayer requests, please let us know. Hope to see you Sunday morning at 10:40 for our outdoor worship celebration!

New Sermon Series on Politics

27 Jul 2020
0

On Sunday morning, August 2, 2020, we will begin a 3-week sermon series called The Red and The Blue. Knowing that politics are so divisive, we hope this series encourages you to be politically active, and yet still be charitable toward those who disagree with you. Jesus Christ is our ultimate authority, and if we follow Him, we will desire to do what is right and live peacefully among our brothers and sisters. Instead of being a slave to politics, we should live as servants to the One True King.

Here is the schedule of messages for this series…

Sunday, August 2 – Carson Humphreys preaching from Titus 3:1-8 (“Be Political without Being a Jerk”)

Sunday, August 9 – Nick Drake preaching from Psalm 146:1-10 (“Don’t Make Politics Your Idol”)

Sunday, August 16 – Nick Drake preaching from 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 (“Unity in Jesus, Not in Politics”)

We hope to see you Sunday morning at 9:30 for Family Groups (aka Sunday School) and 10:40 for our worship celebration. If you have any questions, needs, or prayer requests, please let us know.

On Sunday morning at 10:40, Lord willing, Pastor Nick will begin a new sermon series – Walk Humbly – through the Old Testament book of Micah. Nick hopes to communicate the truth that God is always in control and is perfect in justice and mercy, so we need to walk in humility before Him and before others.

This is the likely schedule of Sunday morning messages, both from Micah and from some special Sundays, over the next 10 weeks:

Sunday, May 31 – Micah 1 (“Recognize God’s Judgment”)

Sunday, June 7 – Micah 2 (“Accept God’s Judgment”)

Sunday, June 14 – Micah 3 (“Respond Rightly to God’s Judgment”)

Sunday, June 21 – Micah 4 (“Find Hope in God’s Judgment”)

Sunday, June 28 – Gideon Sunday (with Rick Smith)

Sunday, July 5 – Special Message from God’s Word (with Carson Humphreys)

Sunday, July 12 – Micah 5 (“Realize the Rescue from God’s Judgment”)

Sunday, July 19 – Micah 6 (“Prepare for God’s Judgment”)

Sunday, July 26 – Micah 7 (“Worship the God of Judgment”)

Sunday, August 2 – Special Message from God’s Word (with Carson Humphreys)

Here is Pastor Nick’s preview of the series:
